If you approach a young person in Orange County and you talk to them about the technology to which they have access, it is somewhat astonishing to think that they cannot remember a time before cellular phones, or before social media existed.
For them, social media is a way of life, an unavoidable part of their daily routine. When something happens to them, their first response is to post about it on different platforms rather than calling their friends to discuss it as the previous generation might have done.
Because of this, business owners must understand that to reach this generation, they must advertise on social media. These young people don’t have much disposable income now, but they will soon enough. They are incredibly tech-savvy, and some of them, young as they are, carry a great deal of weight as influencers and potential brand ambassadors.
Because of all this, if you own a business or you are responsible for doing the advertising for one, you must know about the most powerful platforms and how to create ads for them.
Domination by Facebook
Some younger people shun Facebook in favor of other platforms, but its reach still shouldn’t be ignored.
Facebook currently accounts for more than one-fifth of the social media activity on the planet in any given day. If that doesn’t convince you that you need to advertise with them, it also accounts for more than a fifth of the internet traffic across the globe, period.
In any given month, well over a billion people are active on Facebook. That’s approximately equal to the entire population of India, Orange County.
More than a quarter of Americans use it as their primary source for news-gathering. Nearly a quarter of Facebook users log on to the site at least five times per day. Also, more than three-quarters of businesses with a B2C model have located and acquired new customers through their Facebook presence, either their profile alone, or through advertising with them.
If you look at all of this, there is an inescapable conclusion. Though Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and many other social media platforms hold some value for the advertiser, it is the height of foolishness to avoid Facebook for advertising just because of the power that it yields.
As you begin to craft a marketing campaign, think about all these facts, and act accordingly. The more you know about Facebook and what portion of your niche can be found there, the better suited you will be to pursue them and turn them into your customers.
